just got back from vietnam a few hours ago and now i am feeling quite tired but it is already much better as i just slept through the whole 2 hour journey on the plane.i did many things for many first times and see things that really touch me there.
the following are in day1...

lots and lots of motocycle and scooters there and this sight can never be seen in singapore as singapore don't have a population of 4 million vietnam have. Through the night u could hear honking of vehicles and it was really messy there and does not seems to have traffic rules as people stop their vrhicles wherever they want and also u-turn where ever they want. maybe it was due to the traffic, i got sick on the mini bus.

we got pack into the mini van upon arrival in vietnam and from there we started sightseeing for first day

ROY SHUHUEY AND DAWN in a telphone booth in that post office we visited

The SHOCKK of the day: hey the hotel horrible. i never thought they would leave us to sleep in such a "hotel" i even got chase by a dog in the hotel itself!!!
DAY 2...
our first and worst problem in vietnam happened on the second day...it was that the orphanage is already painted by hired workers and we are not allowed to teach as the government did not allow it as education is tight there in a socialist country. so we are left with nothing to do there.

We left the orphanage after lunch which i didn't even dare to eat a single thing as the vegetarian food just look horible and it don't look like any vegetarian food i find in singapore. we went on sightseeing to a rice farm and later to cu chi tunnel the viet-kongs used during the war against france and the US.

Joke of the Day: we thought CU CHI tunnel is spelt GUCCI hahahaha...

this is inside the tunnel and it is very small and narrow and dark everyone is just duck walking inside and my group came out with shaking legs already!!!

okie now ROY suddently started doing some stupid things and thr rest ou us started taking photo haha:D

DAY3...
GOT a change of hotel ah ha! this hotel is so much better...at least no wild dogs, a lift and 2 people to a room and best of all, me, vivian, roy, qian ci, dawn, shu huey, chun hua and jia hui are all staying on the same floor and also next to each other

201-vivian & me
202-roy & qian ci
203-dawn & shu huey
204-chun hua & jiao hui
We got a new orphanage to go to and we are allowed to teach and the is a canteen that needed to be refresh. our 8 people group manage to paint all 4 internal walls in just a few hours but i must say it is mostly due to our strong bond and teamwork that made this possible as really, most of us have never painted before even when it started off as a disaster but the canteen turn out really nice by the end of thr day. we felt really happy when we look at the outcome of the canteen as we knew this small deed can really make the orphans' day

Disaster in the orphanage: hey i m really really scared of animals and just because of this it doesn't mean the kids can use this to bully me. guess what they did, a boy carried a dog by the paws facing me and came chasing after me. angry angry angry!!!

while waiting for the food we took a photo in our class tee!!!

we had nothing to do after dinner so we started to do some wild things...okie acting like we are in water behind a fish tank...that fish really"like" Roy!!!

End of day3...debrief ended quite late and to prepare for teaching materials for the next day, we stayed up really late as the other group said that the childrens are like monsters and they wasted a whole afternoon so we prepared many things and many backup plans till around 3 plus plus in the morning and actually we intented to just rest abit in roy and qian ci room but it ended up with chun hua, jiao hui and vivian sleeping in my and vivian room, dawn sleeping in her room and Shu huey me roy and qian ci sleeping in their room. it was just tiring as not one kept track of the time where 0630 we are suppose to reach the lobby but the whole group just overslept till 0630 and elroy from the other group came to find us sleeping when everyone is waiting for us but luckily ms ming wasn't really angry over it.

Day4...
our planning through the night did pay off. indeed Dawn's idea did work out nicely and things wasn't like what the other group said and in the middle of the day there was a small brief debrief where we share with the other group how we tackle the kids. after lunch we exchanged jobs with the other group and this time we painted the exterior wall which wasn't much was done even the other group was on it the whole morning. But once again i am very happy that we manage to finish up all the exterior walls of the canteen before we left even when it was much harder as it was under the hot afternoon sun and there are more higher areas. At some parts we even have to stand infront of the few tombstones near the back of the canteen during painting and we just said sorry to them. At night after dinner, we went shopping at a night market for one and a half hour and everyone in our group brought a tee and we are all going to wear it the next day. the tee shows "same same" on the front and "but different..." at the back.

Day5...
the events are less tiring and more relaxing, and when the whole group appear infront of ms ming in the lift the first thing in the morning, she was laughing and the 8 of us squeeze into the lift where ms ming and mrs pang is inside but the lift stated that max is 6 people. when we reach ground floor, the overload sign then lighted up. we visited a school and later to a museum on the vietnam war.

i find this picture quite funny because vietnam war ended around 20 to 30 years ago le and look at the above picture and u will know what i am talking about.

okie this is gross...now guess what is it.....

looks like a egg right??? okie let me tell u, it is an egg that is turning into a chick and it is cooked before it was hatch. a very very cruel food.

After lunch was shopping. we bargained like mad as the things can be really cheap if u can bargain but due to all the shop keepers bring up the price, some of us got scammed. everyone brought many many things like me, i brought 5 shirts, 4 bracelet & a wallet for my mom in just 3 hours. by night debrief ended it was already very very late and we still had to prepare for culture exchange the next day. and me, dawn, qian ci, roy and shu huey stayed up till 0130 just to draw some picture everyone had to use for the next day.

Day6...
the late day in vietnam and the last day at the orphanage and also maybe the last time we would be seeing these orphans. the painting is the most horrible of the whole day as we are painting the window railings and the paint we use is oil based which is also known as emulsion paint and once it dries up, it can never be able to be washed by water and tinner are brought for us to wash our hands. But i didn't really did much painting as i was suppose to rest cos i had some stupid stomachache but i ended up looking after roy's "child" and had to run after him the whole after noon and what was the worst is that he went to kiss the railings which was just painted and got paint on his mouth but it was really fun spend a afternoon with this boy and he even offered a mouth of apple. when the kids there bath in the evening, the water flows into the canal at the back of the orphanage and it would over flow and flood the orphanage. As we stayed theere quite late due to culture exchange, we ended up walking to the bus barefooted as the water can be up till our ankle. when we left, we had to say bye to the kids and we really can't bare to leave them as some of the people had got very attach to one of those kids.

Day7...
we left the hotel and got to the airport the first that morning to return to Singapore.

The service is so so so powerful!!!
Nick Vujicic is also a super funny man and time just seems to flies when we were there.
the church was just fully packed
all that came are eager to hear him talk
Before we left, we gave him a hug and he said,"i love You"
Actually i first realise that many people came when we are rushing home and we just can't leave.
we had no choice but to go by stairs
and what i can say is
walking down 12 floors is like walking down a never ending flights and flights of stairs:D

:D don't worry i will get over it de!!!
